A code is a symptom, not an answerCheck

Anyone can read a code. We charge to find out what's actually wrong with your car.
Straight to the counter — no phone tree, no call center.
Sent overnight? We call back within minutes of opening, in order received.
We charge to diagnose. Not to scan.
P0300. Random misfire detected. That is a symptom with a dozen possible causes behind it, and it does not tell you which one is yours.
Testing, measuring, and tracing until we know which component is actually failing — so the repair fixes the car the first time.
A parts store will read your code for free and that's fine. But replacing parts off a code list is how people spend $600 not fixing a $150 problem. What we charge for is the answer, not the readout — because the readout was never the hard part.
We run factory-level diagnostic platforms for European and domestic makes, the same class of equipment the dealers use. That's exactly why drivers bring us the problems other shops couldn't pin down.

Charged by the job, applied to the repair
Diagnostic work is charged by the job, not by the hour, and it goes onto the same invoice as the repair. You're not paying twice — you're paying to find out what's actually wrong, and that amount is part of what the job costs.
What it runs depends on the fault. Tracing an intermittent electrical problem is not the same work as confirming a failed sensor, and pricing it as though it were would mean overcharging some people and refusing others. Call with what the car is doing and we'll tell you where it lands before you commit to anything.
Steady is a problem. Flashing is an emergency.
A steady check engine light means the car logged a fault and wants it looked at. Drive it, but don't sit on it for months.
A flashing light means a misfire is happening right now, and raw fuel is going somewhere it shouldn't. That fuel burns in the catalytic converter instead of the cylinder, and converters fail fast under that. A flashing light can turn a plug-and-coil job into a converter job in a single drive.
If it's flashing: keep the speed down, keep the load light, and get it in. If it's flashing and the car is shaking, pull over.
The light went out. The fault didn't.
Intermittent faults are the ones people live with the longest, because the light clears itself and the car seems fine again. It isn't — the fault is stored, the condition that triggered it is still there, and it will come back.
A cleared code also erases the readiness monitors the car uses to prove its emissions systems are working. Clear codes before a smog check and the car won't pass — not because it failed, but because it can't demonstrate anything yet. It takes a set drive cycle to rebuild them.
Faults that appear only when hot, only when cold, or only over bumps are electrical and thermal problems, and they're exactly the ones a scan tool alone won't catch. That's the work we do.
